Your browser re-derives the entire SHA-256 hash chain locally — nothing is sent to us — and confirms the record is intact, or points to the exact event where it was altered. This is the "not-hostage" promise made checkable: the record is trustworthy because you can re-verify it, not because we say so. The format itself is published at /spec — build your own verifier against the JSON Schema if you'd rather not use ours.

The rule, in the open: hash = sha256( prevHash | type | payload | at | propertyId ), starting from a genesis of 64 zeros. That's all this page does — the same computation you could run yourself in any language.
